This year, S-Cubed - Science Students' Society joined the Department of Chemistry - University of Malta to organise the 8th National Chemistry Symposium. This event will be in the form of a conference where past students will showcase their final year projects. The main aim of the symposium is to highlight research in the Department of Chemistry and to encourage students to choose an appropriate final year project. The Minister for Education will also open the event.

Did you ever have problems presenting or communicating science in a simple and clear manner? Do you find it difficult to discuss science with other people from different backgrounds?
This workshop will help you gain presentation skills, allowing you to present your knowledge in a clear and concise manner. You will understand ways to present complex scientific principles in layman terms and in a way that anyone can understand.
The first part of this workshop will be given by Faisal Sadegh who will focus on presentational skills. Alexander Hili will continue the workshop with a presentation on how to build a speech. Dr Edward Duca and Dr Sandro Lanfranco will be assessing the participants’ presentations and giving out constructive criticism. This will be done so for the participants to gain an understanding of how they can improve their public speaking skills.

Have you ever wanted to create something but never had the funds and resources to do so?
Did you ever dream of building a Tesla coil, a potato gun with an automatic reloading mechanism, or a hydroponic farm?
This is your chance to do so!
This year, S-Cubed has decided to give you the opportunity to take science out of the labs, and to come up with your own science-related project! Use the attached link to write up your project plan, which will be assessed by different experts in their respective scientific fields. The top three project designers shall be given 200 euros to fund their project.
Applications Deadline: 28th February (start planning your project early as there only 11 days from now for you to complete the plan!).
The Limit of each team is five persons.
The top three projects will be announced on the 3rd of March. These projects are to be presented to an audience on the 14th and 15th of March, at a science communication event which will be announced later on. Later on in the year, these projects are to be presented once again to the general public during Science in the City, as part of the S-Cubed stands which receive a large audience year after year.

After the special edition of Share !T Goes Green at the Green Expo, we are now presenting you Share !T Session 1!
For those who do not know what Share !T is, Share !T is a public speaking event where students have the opportunity to present their favourite part in science while honing their presentation skills. With this, S-Cubed aims to help students develop skills in a friendly environment in front of other fellow students.

All you have to do is apply at a cost of 5 euros, which will be donated to the Christmas on Campus initiative. We'll then provide you with the name of your Secret Santa and leave it in your hands to buy that person a little present!
Exchange of gifts will happen on the 17th of December so get ready to keep a secret and share that Christmas Spirit all around campus :)
Please keep in mind that gifts need not be extravagant, something small will suffice. After all, it's the thought that counts!

The yearly camping event you've all been waiting for is back!
As part of our efforts to improve this event year after year, the traditional treasure hunt has been upgraded to a GPS Treasure Hunt around Valletta! In addition to this, a game of laser tag in Buskett is also being offered, should you wish to opt for it.
The price for this event is €30 and includes:
- use of the Bahar ic-Caghaq Campsite;
- the GPS Treasure Hunt around Valletta;
- all food and beverages for the BBQ and breakfast;
- a packed lunch for the Treasure Hunt and;
- a bottle of alcohol and a mixer of your choice (to be split between four attendees).
The game of laser tag in Buskett on Sunday 14th December is OPTIONAL and comes at an additional cost of €10.
The price of €30 does NOT include tents or sleeping bags. Tents and lights can be rented from the Mosta Scout Group by contacting Mr. Edward Vella on 79707924 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org Two or four-men tents can be rented at €5 per person and lights can be rented at €5 each. Each tent comes with a €20 deposit.

The Science Student’s Society, together with the Faculty of Science are once again proud to present "The Annual Science Gathering”!
This year we will meet on the 21st November in the the KSU Common Room at 19:30.
This event aims at bringing both staff as well as student from the faculty of science closer together, through an informal reception including food and beverages.
